Clarity & Goals for 2026

A grounded, reflective, and empowering start into your next chapter

As we approach the year’s finish line, final projects are wrapping up and social feeds are filling with reflections, there’s a natural pause emerging. This transition between years has always been a meaningful checkpoint for me. It’s where honest reflection meets grounded planning, and where a new chapter begins to take shape with intention rather than pressure.

There was a time in my life when I felt I had lost my direction. And when my vision finally became clearer again, I felt ready to roll, at least in theory. But holding a grand vision isn’t always easy. Especially one that spans both private and professional life. The vision I have for myself is one that will take time - purposeful, sustainable, long-term time. And the distance between “here” and “there” can sometimes feel like its own emotional workout: growing pains, doubt, and the occasional moment of “How on earth is this going to happen?”

What helps me stay in motion rather than overwhelm?
Setting annual goals across five meaningful areas of life. Not to over-engineer things, but to create balance, resilience, and momentum. When one area stagnates (and trust me, it happens), you can lean into another. Over time, these areas begin to inform each other in surprising and grounding ways.

These five areas, drawn from The Big 5 for Life and the Five Pillars of Identity, have become my anchors:

  • Self-care & health – Prioritizing daily practices that support mental and physical well-being.

  • Social relationships – Investing in meaningful, energizing, and nurturing connections.

  • Work & purpose – Ensuring my professional path aligns with what truly matters to me.

  • Material & financials – Making intentional decisions that create stability and freedom.

  • Places – Choosing and shaping environments that support energy, creativity, and belonging.

Your process:

Reflection → Vision → Concrete Steps → Action

If you’d like to set goals for yourself this year, start with a simple, grounded moment of reflection. Take each pillar and look back: What were your big wins? What brought you joy? What simply worked? I personally create a picture album each year. It helps me remember the many small moments that made the year meaningful.

Then look ahead. Reconnect with your long-term vision and translate it into specific, realistic next steps for each of the five areas. Whether I’m planning my year personally or structuring my work projects, the foundation is the same: clarity, focus, and action.

This is where the SMART framework becomes invaluable. Goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Anything vague stays in the “vision” bucket. Anything concrete becomes part of the plan. And yes, writing it down is essential; thinking your way through it doesn’t create the same momentum or accountability.

Once your goals are set, anchor them visually. I use a simple Pinterest collage as my vision board, but anything that keeps your direction visible will do.
